Connecting With Self By Connecting With Friends

Why is it so important to connect with friends?  How do we choose our friends?  Why are friendships important?  How are friendships supportive?  How do friendships help you grow?

Being around certain people can assist you in reconnecting with different parts of yourself that may not surface around everyone. We may not intentionally “act” differently around different people, however, different people may bring out different qualities within us.

Have you ever been told to “pick your friends wisely?”

What or whom you surround yourself with can alter your own vibration, so do you want to synchronize with higher or lower vibrations?  Positive or negative attitudes?  Feeling encouraged or discouraged? Take a look at your relationships and ask,

“Are your relationships serving you for your greatest and highest good?” - Shyra

This does not mean that two people must agree on everything, in fact, having differences in opinion or beliefs can create opportunities to develop new perspectives.  Diversity is important in our lives, as this supports growth and expansion in our minds and hearts.  This also assists us in learning how to respect other ways of thinking, to ask questions and have discussions that are about understanding other points of view, rather than just convincing. We are learning how to love fully, not despite our differences, but because of our differences.

“What type of energy do you want around you?” - Shyra

Have you lost connections with friends?  Or do you feel like you're lacking in the friends department?  What is holding you back from creating new friendships?  What fears or resistance comes up when you think about meeting new people?  What is still needing healing within you?

Here are some suggestions on ways to make new friends:

  • Friendship apps

  • Meetup Groups

  • Join community sports groups

  • Find a hobby group

  • Travel Groups

  • Mens and womens circles

  • Strike up a conversation with a stranger

  • Take yourself on a date

“Do not let your fear be your driving force of an energy that is so beautiful.” - Shyra’s dad
